We began our Bennet Samways journey at Ednaston Park back in 2021, choosing it as the home for our new and ambitious estate agency. Four years on, we’re thrilled to be celebrating not only our continued success, but also the growth of our team with the appointment of our second team member, Louise.

Seeing how a business operates in the real world has allowed me to understand the importance of having core transferable skills such as time management, code of conduct, customer service, communication, both verbal and written, health and safety awareness, the need for compliance, and teamwork. Additionally, I was able to shadow Gina Connett in her role as Facilities Manager at Ednaston Park, learning about property leases and legislation and maintenance of a range of buildings from old and historic to brand new. I really enjoyed understanding how businesses can play their part in protecting habitats and environments through making buildings more energy efficient and carefully planning the running and upkeep of an estate.

During my time at Ednaston Park, I also had the opportunity to work with Clowes Developments Marketing department and completed a site visit to see first hand the life cycle of a typical property project. We visited Stud Brook Business Park in Castle Donington which is a new site at the start of construction. Fairham – a 606-acre brand new neighbourhood in Nottingham, with homes and commercial units being built. Some of the business park is built and occupied, whilst other plots remain vacant and are being marketed to potential occupiers through multi-discipline strategies such as, press, signage, brochures, websites and sales with specialist agencies. Finally, we visited a completed site, EMDC which has been developed and managed by Clowes, I got to see how the presentation and maintenance of a completed asset reflects on the wider portfolio and acts as an example of what the group can deliver.

As I return to sixth form, I feel that my knowledge and skill set has been widened by my experiences. I look forward to being able to apply them to my schoolwork to help me become more proficient and capable. I now feel confident that when I make my decision for the next steps towards my career that the professional world isn’t such a scary place.

Ran by sisters Anna and Claire, MacMartin began in 2017, they now employ a small team of creative experts. MacMartin have been involved in delivering impactful campaigns for Staffordshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner and YMCA to name a few.
